Located in the Heart of Sharjah within the pedestrianised Souq Al Shanasiyah, Ratios Coffee was conceived as more than a café — it was envisioned as a space where craft, culture, and community intersect.

The challenge was to create a brand and environment that honoured the discipline of specialty coffee while remaining warm and approachable. It needed to feel precise without being clinical, rooted in heritage without feeling nostalgic, and elevated without alienating its community.

Shaping the Core Idea

We began by defining the brand around a single concept: ratios as balance — the meeting point of science, art, and human connection.

This idea became the foundation for every decision that followed. The brand would reflect measurement and mastery in coffee, while still celebrating warmth and conversation. It positioned Ratios as intentional, meticulous, and culturally aware — not trend-driven.

Building the Brand Ecosystem

The visual identity was designed to express harmony and restraint.

A clean typographic system and balanced logo mark subtly referenced measurement and proportion. Earth-inspired tones drawn from Sharjah’s landscape grounded the identity in its surroundings, ensuring it felt native to its environment rather than imported.

The system extended across:

Menu design, with clear hierarchy highlighting bean origins and brewing methods
Packaging that remained understated yet distinctive
Environmental graphics that reinforced clarity and craft

Every touchpoint was designed to feel cohesive, calm, and considered.

Designing the Space

Interior design played a central role in expressing the brand’s philosophy.

Natural materials, warm lighting, and thoughtful zoning created a space that encouraged lingering without clutter. A salvaged dhow was integrated into the counter façade — subtly embedding cultural heritage into the architecture of the café itself.

The space balanced intimacy and openness, allowing for quiet pour-over moments at the bar and relaxed conversations within seating areas. It became not just a coffee stop, but a place to gather within Sharjah’s evolving cultural district.
